About the event

Since receiving an AAUW Honolulu Career and Leadership Development grant in the Spring of 2021, Ms. Renzy Baloran has progressed with her career ambitions. Renzy graduated with a Master of Public Health at the UH Manoa specializing in Health Policy and Management. She currently works at the Hawaii Department of Health as a Project Specialist for the Hawaii Pediatric Mental Health Care Access grant. Her research interest is Women’s Health specifically Maternal and Child Health and Reproductive justice. Renzy plans to pursue a medical degree with the ultimate goal of having a private practice as a primary care physician in Kalihi. She hopes to use the knowledge she gained from her MPH degree to give a comprehensive view of healthcare and to continue her work as an advocate for women's health disparities. Renzy wants to provide one on one care to patients as a physician and advocate for systemic change through policy improvements.

During her free time, Renzy spends her time with her family, friends, and her dogs and cats. She loves trying different hobbies including calligraphy, digital art, photography, cooking, and baking. You can also find Renzy trying new food at local restaurants or having a picnic with home cooked meals at a local beach or park. Renzy currently volunteers as the Philippine Pre-Medical Association of Hawaii (PPMAH) Vice President. She loves mentoring and hopes to continue the work PPMAH has done in the past year from planning social events, workshops, and providing resources for fellow premeds.
