Getting Back to Normal

Our first in-person Talk Story Tuesday in over two years was a huge hit with our new and loyal members. We eased into gathering with outdoor dining and an inspiring message.

April’s Talk Story Tuesday took place on April 12th, 2022 at the Old Spaghetti Factory in the Aloha Tower Marketplace. Each Talk Story Tuesday event is intended for AAUW Honolulu members and members of the community to connect and discuss issues important to women. This past month’s event was a message of hope and inspiration from Ms. Jenny Duhaylonsod Delos Santos.

Jenny Delos Santos is a domestic abuse survivor, breast cancer survivor, mental health advocate, Toastmaster and author. It is her mission to share her life story in order to inspire others to see beyond their personal tragedies and strive towards their dreams and goals. Jenny has made her dreams come true by earning a bachelor's degree in Journalism at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and publishing her first book "Falling Perfectly without Trying: A True Story."

With over 40 attendees at the event, Jenny’s story inspired and encouraged many women from all walks of life. For some women, this was their first gathering since the pandemic and a chance to ease into reconnecting and socializing in the “new normal.” A few technical issues and adjustments were expected after life with Zoom but the overall feedback from the event was positive and excited for more.

The Engagement Team at AAUW Honolulu are thankful for your participation and look forward to planning another Talk Story Tuesday soon!
